Drum and Bass Recording

I’m Luke and with over two decades of experience on the stage and in the studio I offer a rock solid approach to making records as a Music Producer and Audio Engineer.

I’ve guided projects from rough demos to finished masters, balancing creative vision with technical precision aligned with my clients goals. My experience spans songwriting collaboration, arrangement, tracking, editing, mixing and mastering for artists across indie, rock, blues, metal and singer-songwriter genres to name a few. I focus on getting the best performance, shaping sonic texture, and ensuring each project captures the soul of an artists sound, crafting something that resonates deeply with both artist and audience.

Please feel free to get in touch as I’d love to hear about your project and have a chat about how I can help you make a great record.

THE ART OF MAKING RECORDS

The Record Making Process

All productions are unique and require different needs. As a basic overview the record making process usually follows a timeline as show below.

The timeline listed here includes sub-sets of the complete music production service. I can provide the entire service or as much or as little as is required.

1. Meet and Greet / Proposal

First things first. I welcome you to one of my studios so we can sit down and have a chat about your goals and vision for your production. This gives you the time to check out the studios and ask any questions you might have about the process, budgets and myself.

After learning more about your production I will then put together a proposal that includes a scope of work, including costs, timeline and the best approach that suites your needs.

2. Pre Production

It’s time to get busy! Each production is different and will have different needs. The Pre Production process is designed to make your project efficient and prepare for the work that lies ahead.

This can include picking the best songs, checking arrangements and tempos, recording demos and booking session musicians and preparing charts. Its a great time to iron out any kinks and refine your ideas ready for the creative process.

3. Recording

Time to create! With two state of the art studios available to my clients, The Avenue and Echo Ridge both offer the environment to capture the feel and emotion that is so important to making a great record.

The recording stage is one of my favourite times as its all about being creative and getting the sounds your after, laying the tracks and starting to see the songs take shape. Recordings can take place over several days and depending on budget we will pick the best studio for your needs.

4. Edit - Mix - Master - Delivery

Once all the recording is finished its time to make your production sound like a polished radio ready masterpiece. This can include editing the process of picking the best takes and focussing on cleaning up unwanted noise, tuning vocals and fixing timing issues .

Mixing is where it all comes together to sound like the final product. Levels are balanced, effects are added and the soundscape becomes one. Once the mix is complete the mastering process will add a final polish and prepare the asset for release to the universe. Your assets are delivered to you in your required format and you have just made a record.
